The Children's Zoo at Zoo Miami is a special place designed especially for kids to enjoy. Here, children and families can get up close and personal with different small animals, and even meet a few they've never heard of before!
Inside the Children's Zoo, you may notice a rather oddly shaped structure appropriately named, the Wacky Barn. Open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., it is home to a few familiar barnyard animals. Kids can grab a brush or curry comb and groom one of the goats or sheep, or watch the keepers demonstrate trained animal behaviors with the horses. For a small fee, you can even feed some of the animals themselves!
For more educational fun, families can check out Animal Tales, special presentations that feature local and exotic wildlife. Presentation topics include Learn About Defenses, A New Look at Everyday Animals, What Does it Eat? and Wonders of Florida. These presentations take place every day at 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and even give kids the opportunity to touch animals while learning about them.
Kids are sure to love the Meerkat exhibit, where they can observe these critters scramble for a mixture of grubs and crickets during their daily feeding at 12:30 p.m. Keepers will share details and answer any questions about our awesome family of meerkats.
Stop by our Camel Feeding at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. or 3 p.m. to feed our camels some of their favorite green treats, or head over to the Wildlife Carousel from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. to take one of the handcrafted endangered animals for a spin.
If your adventure at the Children's Zoo worked up your appetite, grab something to munch on at the snack bar, where you can enjoy hot dogs, burgers, popcorn, Cuban sandwiches, fries and more. If you worked up a sweat with that appetite, soft-serve ice cream and cold beverages are great options too.
