SAVAGE Art Show Features Works by Zoo Miami Animals on August 26, 2017

On Saturday, August 26, 2017, the SAVAGE Art Show will be held at Macaya Gallery in the Wynwood Arts District, from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The event will be hosted by the South Florida Chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK), supported by Zoo Miami’s Conservation & Research Department, Zoo Miami Foundation, and Service Systems Associates.

The family-friendly show will feature unique artwork created by Zoo Miami’s animals and their keepers. Featured art will be available for sale, and all proceeds will support species conservation and research both locally and internationally. Guests of all ages are welcome to attend.  Admission is free for the general public, and will include animal encounters from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m., special full-body virtual reality experiences, plus music and snacks. A cash bar will also be available during the event.

Macaya Gallery is located at 145 NW 36th Street, Miami, FL 33127. Metered street parking is available nearby, or guests can park at the Shops at Midtown Miami parking garage, located two blocks from the gallery.

Miami Metrozoo (now Zoo Miami) Zoo Keepers founded the South Florida Chapter of AAZK in 1981. As one of the longest instated chapters of AAZK, the South Florida Chapter has hosted numerous fundraisers to benefit conservation, education, and animal care. Like the other non-profit AAZK Chapters nationwide, the South Florida Chapter is comprised of dedicated Zoo Keepers and volunteers who dedicate their time to educate others while raising funds for animal enrichment, zoo keeper’s professional development, and various conservation projects.
